Almost all human genes resulted from ancient duplication.
Results of protein sequence comparison at open criterion show a very large number of relationships that have, up to now, gone unreported. The relationships suggest many ancient events of gene duplication. It is well known that gene duplication has been a major process in the evolution of genomes. A collection of human genes that have known functions have been examined for a history of gene dupl...

If sk denotes the number of stable sets of cardinality k in graph G, and α(G) is the size of a maximum stable set, then I(G;x) = α(G) ∑ k=0 skx k is the independence polynomial of G (Gutman and Harary, 1983). A graph G is very well-covered (Favaron, 1982) if it has no isolated vertices, its order equals 2α(G) and it is well-covered (i.e., all its maximal independent sets are of the same size, M...

Almost All Palindromes Are Composite
We study the distribution of palindromic numbers (with respect to a fixed base g ≥ 2) over certain congruence classes, and we derive a nontrivial upper bound for the number of prime palindromes n ≤ x as x → ∞. Our results show that almost all palindromes in a given base are composite. ∗MSC Numbers: 11A63, 11L07, 11N69 †Corresponding author 1
